All Mini Cooper S body types will come with the option of diesel power for the first time

. A 141bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine is to be fitted to Mini hatchback, Clubman, Convertible and Countryman versions.

Called Cooper SD, all models come with brake-energy generation, engine stop-start, gear shift display and electric power steering, which all combine to improve fuel economy. The Mini Cooper SD hatch averages 65.7mpg and emits 114g/km of CO2. Its 0-62mph dash is completed in 8.1 seconds and it has a top speed of 134mph. Cooper SD models come with an extra -arge air intake on the front apron,
